Niantic, Connecticut isn’t just another shoreline town, it’s a place I’ve grown up visiting and always felt connected to. That personal connection became the foundation for Meet Me in Niantic, a strategic social media campaign I created to support Niantic Main Street, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting and revitalizing the downtown area.
This campaign was developed not just to highlight Niantic’s charm, but to build lasting digital engagement through storytelling, visuals, and community-centered content.
Bridging the Gaps with Strategy & Storytelling
Niantic Main Street already had an active and supportive online community, especially on Facebook and Instagram. However, my audit uncovered several areas for growth, like inconsistent calls to action, missed engagement opportunities, and inactive platforms.
To address these, the campaign strategy included:
A stronger focus on video and Reels
Platform-specific goals and content themes
The launch of a TikTok presence to attract younger audiences
Clear and engaging calls to action
A volunteer-led approach designed for long-term sustainability
More Than Just a Destination
Meet Me in Niantic was created to do more than attract attention. It was designed to make people feel something. Whether it’s a local resident looking to volunteer or a tourist planning a weekend trip, the campaign invites them to discover all that Niantic has to offer.
From scenic boardwalk views and community events to hidden gems and interviews with small business owners, each post is crafted to tell a story that inspires people to explore, support, and get involved.
